After a very short off-season Origin's official season is back! Are you willing to find out the teams that will be nerfed and buffed as well as new gaming updates for season 3? This article brings several updates and predictions about the new metas and team release LootRush will announce soon. Enjoy the content and keep reading for more details!
More meta changes are expected for Season 3
We hope you had a good time testing and learning during the pre-season. This was Axie's first short off-season period, and it was crucial to test different strategies and prepare for the start of the official season.
New meta adjustments were already anticipated once it became a tradition. Some players see it as a way to push people to update their builds with new Axies to keep up with the game.
On the other hand, with AXS being awarded to the first 20,000 players, these constant changes should also focus on the tweaks required to retain and acquire users with builds that can reach as low as 400-500 vstars. We did some small tests by playing a couple of battles during the off-season, which was enough to easily get into the top ten thousand. This is not the same situation as a year ago, when there were 1 million users and only the top 1-2% received rewards. Metas are still very important, but these bounty ranking changes could make the game less dependent on them.
Cards updates
Many card changes were announced during the off-season. We thoroughly investigated each of the changes and recommend you do the same by accessing the public spreadsheet for more information. In any case, the following changes can make a significant difference in gameplay:
Topaz
Deal 15 bonus damage for each card in your Banish Pile
Cap at 120 bonus DMG
Sakura
Target any ally. For the rest of this battle, whenever you play a card, the target heals 8 HP
Cannot stack
Bumpy
Target any ally. For the rest of the battle, whenever you play a card, this Axie gains 8 Shield
Cannot stack
Rosa
It's a card that was forgotten and must go back to the meta
Randomly deal 2 hits.
Each hit applies {Sleep} for 3 turns.
10 early insights from playing
After playing for a while, we learned useful tips that may help you to build your strategy for this new season. The good news is that you can test and learn by yourself during the Rare and Epic eras. Then you will be prepared for the Mystic era, which is expected to be the most competitive as the winnings include 50% of the total 112,476.88 AXS rewards
Let's see 10 early learnings. from playing:
It is too early to tell but Plants appear to be buffed across the board. Healing Plant teams were more common in the off-season than in the regular season;
Games are taking a long time, especially if you play a Poison team into an enemy Plant team. It may take up to 10 minutes or more;
Meta has been shifted towards Sustain/Shielding teams and this tends to happen during the entire season;
Some Reptile durability cards got buffed;
A good Healing team can counter a Poison team;
AOE is being lightly nerfed, but it is still a good team and with the right runes and charms can out-damage healing Axies;
Both Sponge & Nimo Aquas are also being nerfed;
Poison will drop down a bit more, but still, be strong. Perhaps it will settle at a peak low Tiger rank;
Beasts got nerfed again;
Classic Rage teams that are single target might do fairly well, given they can burst out healing Axies;
Updates on Runes and Charms
A significant number of changes were included in the runes and charms update that was released two weeks ago. Almost 65 items were updated altogether, with runes receiving nearly 80% of the changes.
40% of runes and charms from the previous season were adjusted;
32% were reworked;
28% of new items, especially for charms.
The majority of the changes were made to Beast, Reptile, and Neutral runes and charms. If you want more information on each, the community has created useful content describing all item's updates. It's worth investigating!
