Community feedback seems to have worked for this season
According to several players’ statements, season 2 is more fun to play and more dynamic when compared to the previous season. After Sky Mavis listened to the players’ feedback and made changes to the game mechanics, we now have a more flexible game environment for rewarding players with up to 40,000 ranking positions and a wide range of teams competing at the top of the leaderboard. Similar teams at the top of the leaderboard in the season's final stage were one of the biggest complaints from the community.

A significant change in preferences of Axies classes
In our previous post, we discussed the Beast class's dominance during the first stage of this season, as well as its dominance during season 1 and the off-season periods.
The actual scenario depicts a more even situation with smaller gaps between Axie classes and significant changes from the previous readings. Aquatics is in the first place, with a significant advantage over Dawns and Beasts. Dawn increased significantly (from 4% to 16%), Birds remained relatively stable, and Reptiles, Plants, and Dusks increased a bit more. Bugs have experienced the greatest decrease (from 11% to 4%).

The same significant change occurred in the use of top runes and charms, which is predictable given the crafting releases for each stage of the season.
As expected, the average price for runes and charms has been decreasing as the season progresses, so if you craft a valuable rune in the future season, consider selling it right away because it will lose value over time. You can repurchase it at the end of the season when competition increases and prices fall.

Meta Updates
Meta Updates
According to a recent article about the Mystic Era, there were over 12 common archetypes across the top 100 during the Epic Era such as AOE, Jinx Aggro, Confuse Control, Burn Sustain, Poison, Triple Owl Carry, Tiny Fan Sustain, Tassels, Perch Ramp, Bubble Bomb, Bleed-Aggro, and Backdoor.
In summary, the 7 most significant updates and the teams that will keep performing well are the following:
The top of the leaderboard is now dominated by swirl-curse teams with many curse and armor cards to extend the duration of games, as shown in the screenshots above. To counter the swirl teams, currently, there are not many mystic runes for sale in the marketplace;
AOE teams are strong throughout the top 3,000 and even some at the top 100;
Tank mechs with a partner Dawn;
Beast teams, both rage, and bleed, are powerful among the top 5,000, but not within the top 500;
Poison finds itself solidly in the middle of the pack, hovering between the top 2,000 and top 4,000;
Anti-Curse Tassels teams now can reach the top 500;
The 3 most popular cards on Axies now are Wing Horn, Cottontail, and Swirl.
Recommendations for the last stage of the season
Now the season has entered its final stage and approaching its conclusion and for the last stage, we predict the meta will transform towards more unique AOE teams and Sponge Aqua teams. The final part of this season tends to see:
Swirl Tank/Curse teams
Sponge Bubble Aqua teams
AOE Wing Horn teams
This will fill out the majority of the top 1,000, with some old-school Rage teams appearing, some Poison teams in the top 2,000 and 3,000, and possibly a few Tiny Fan "one-shot" teams spread throughout the leaderboard. We believe that the value of Rare and Epic runes and charms will continue to fall, while newly minted Mystic charms and runes will continue to rise until the end of the season. This means that newcomers can pick up Rare and Epic items for a low cost and eventually catch up to the leaderboard.
