Crafting strategy for the next season
Learn from our expert's and players’ recommendations
Players tend to slow down during the off-season while waiting for meta changes. Are you an NFT owner open to looking at ways to keep your accounts active during this time? This post will discuss the crafting strategies that our experts and players recommend using during the off-season, to be better prepared for the upcoming season.
The off-season opportunities
Several players prefer to relax during the off-season until the gameplay adjustments are clear and meta changes are finally announced. It is a fair decision after players expended a lot of energy maintaining their rank position in the leaderboards in the final weeks of season 1, but this could be a good opportunity for those who want to be better prepared when the new season begins. There are clear benefits to keeping your accounts active, as well as important warnings about things to be aware of before the start of the next season.
Crafting may appear to be mostly aleatory, but good strategies have proven to work and can make a significant difference.

Stock moonshards to start the next season with an advantage
Moonshards are a kind of rare asset in the game. During season 1, SLP and runes, and charms could be purchased, but moonshards could only be obtained by playing and with a daily limit of 60 energies.
Moonshards can be used to boost your crafting level by earning rewards, especially at the start of the season. During the previous season, the rewards for level 3 or 5 allowed players to select a rune or charm, and each class had two runes available, one of which was the Pangolin, which was used at the top of the leaderboard. The same happened for Poison Touch and Venom Master, used for poison teams. Even though they are not minted runes, players were able to improve gameplay without having to pay their average price (around $25-30 in the first weeks of season 1).
Given how the game mechanics have evolved over season 1, we believe the best strategy is for players to stockpile moonshards for season 2 and power-level their crafting level by creating a large number of basic runes and charms. Because moonshards are being hoarded, players can produce a lot of rare, epic, and even mystic items earlier this season compared to season 1.
Let's see how it works step by step:
Play off-season games or keep your accounts active to earn moon shards and SLP;
Create "Beginner" or "Basic" charms free of SLP cost during the off-season since moonshards balance will reset upon the start of season 2;
Wait until season 2 begins, then disenchant all of these crafted runes and charms;
User will receive 10% back of the crafting cost as long as it has been expired for only 1 season;
Since the user will have moonshards given to them from disenchantment, and SLP earned from playing in the off-season, they may then be able to "power level" their crafting level;
This is done by repeatedly, crafting bulk amounts (dozens, if not 50+) of basic, free charms and runes;
Upon reaching the desired crafting level from this activity, the user may then begin spending SLP in crafting to acquire more expensive, useful, runes and charms at the beginning of the upcoming season.
Overall, we recommend avoiding spending SLP or moonshards during the off-season.
Reminder: Moonshards resets when the off-season end, so remember to stockpile runes and charms now, then mass-disenchant at the beginning of the season.
Crafting strategy for the first weeks
The faster a player advances in level, the faster they will be able to craft better runes and charms, but reaching the top of the leaderboard in the first half of the season is not advised because they will have to work hard to maintain this position for the entire season. Use the first half of the season to study the new meta and run some experiments, and the second half to compete.
We advise our players not to skip adventure mode. Playing adventure mode early in the season is important for SLP earning, which will be useful for crafting later.
We also recommend free crafting until level 14, when you will have a better chance of getting epic or mystic runes. After that, start using your SLP for crafting, but first, try to concentrate on moonshards.
To reach upper levels quickly you need to be able to do more crafts even playing more with more stamina.
Multi-crafting increases your chances of getting better assets
One of the most effective strategies for crafting runes and charms is to combine the use of moonshards with utility items such as Moon Dust and Moonstone, which increases the crafting chances for epic and mystic items.
The crafting of basic runes and charms is severely limited. Even using 100 moonshards for crafting ensures a 100% chance of receiving common runes and charms. When you reach an intermediate level, you will be able to significantly improve your chances of multi-crafting. At this point, it will take ten times as many moonshards, but the chances of crafting better assets increase greatly.
As soon as you have access to it, try to get the first 10 crafts on intermediate, and then as you progress, start combining with the rare and epic Moon Dust to improve your crafting chances of getting good assets even more.
A simple intermediate craft has a 60% chance of common runes and charms, 35% rare, 4.5% epic, and 0.5% mystic, but when combined with 1 epic Moon Dust and 1 rare Moon Dust, the chance of a common drop to 0% and the probability of a rare increase to 60%, epic to 37%, and mystic to 3%. You can also experiment with different utility item combinations to reduce the amount of moonshards required and continue to have better chances.
Try alternative strategies
As previously noted, moonshards can only be obtained through gameplay; they cannot be purchased or minted. However, there is another option you can try: purchasing runes and immediately disenchanting them.
During the previous season, epic runes and charms began to reach a floor price of $3 in the second half of the season, especially in the final weeks. Some players use the strategy of purchasing multiple epic runes and charms at once, disenchanting them immediately, and then using the moonshards and SLP generated to expand their crafting options. When disenchanting an epic rune, you will receive 1,500 moonshards and 150 SLP, which is enough for a very good craft.
We hope you enjoy the recipes and will start using them right away. There is no expectation of drastic changes to crafting mechanics, but it is reasonable to be aware of all game changes for the upcoming season to review strategy and continue to get the most out of season 2.
