Axie Infinity: Origin, 6 meta teams players love the most
Learn more about the most requested teams for Origin
A couple of weeks after the Origin Axie Infinity inaugural season we collected some cool thoughts from our top players’ comments on how it compares with the classic version and what teams they love the most. As you may know, the new Origin will feature a leaderboard prize pool of 112,000 AXS, 6,750 of those going to the first-place finisher.
A quick overview of Origin vs, classic Axie Infinity
Overall players believe Origins is awesome when compared to classic. It brings the diversity of matching Axie teams with runes and charms, creating a large field of possibilities. It gives the possibility of using many axies to make competitive teams and do several different plays for your team, granting more flexibility in the way you play.
For some players, Origins is more strategy-oriented and easier to play than classic, once you can see the draw cards and discarded cards. Nonetheless, the gameplay usually gets longer so it can be time-consuming and complicated for newbies due to the crafting runes and charms.
More skills for team composition
One of the important differences between classic and Origin is that classic needs very good analytical skills memory and observation. In Origin, it is also needed to get familiarized with the cards your opponent has used but doesn't require great analytical skills. Players just need to decide the best move with how much energy and the cards to be drawn. On the other hand, it requires great analytical skills in team composition since there are more cards and body parts and more possibilities in combos.
That is where we wanna focus today!
Which are the best Origin teams players love the most and why?
In Origin, teams are very dependent on runes and charms but the best team option may vary depending on the player's ability. There are good and cheap Axie options in the marketplace but the outstanding ones are usually poison teams, rage teams, curse teams, and aggressive teams.
What team are you willing to play in a near future?
We did a poll with several players and almost half of them intend to choose a poison team that is famous among the Axie community to be stronger and easier to play with. They apply poison stacks to opponents until all their axies die at once through poison.
49% intend to get a Poison team
20% intend to get a Rage team
15% intend to get a Curse team
7% intend to get an Anti-healing team
9% intend to get other teams
Now you must be questioning: Why should I have a team like that? And how to build it? Don't worry, I’m going to guide you with very simple tips to ensure you are doing the best choice.
Why should you have a poison team?
There are two main reasons. First, the poison team seems to be one of the easiest to learn and play. The second main reason relates to the fact it is so powerful and requires less support from runes and charms. It is important to make clear that it's powerful as of seasons 0 and 1 of Origin Axie Infinity. Usually, only a Furia team can easily beat a Poison team when combined with good runes and charms, but it will cost around $400 for axies and another $300 in runes and charms. With around $100-120, you can create a powerful poison team with no need for extra investment in many runes and charms
Building a poison team
One smart way to start your poison team composition is to get Axies with a Kotaro card and start building the team strategy from there. Let's look at the cards that are essential to make those 3 Axies work well together.
The first important step is to secure that your team will have 3 Green Thorns which is the most powerful poison of the game, and 2 Kotaros which will provide your team with a very good level of energy control. After that get a maximum of 2 Small Frills to help spread poison quickly and finally, at least 1 Gila and 1 Yam because it will increase damage to each poison stack.
From there you can get the rest of the cards based on your own strategy. There are several different defensive cards and body parts you can apply and create new possibilities. Depending on your budget and supply flexibility, you will be able to build very strong damaging teams that will easily climb the leaderboard.
Another important tip is to always have a look at your idle Axies from V2. Some of them may work very well for Origin when combined with other Axies and cards. The more you get used to Origin the better you will be able to take advantage of your idle Axies.
If you want to make it even more powerful, combine it with runes and charms.
Runes and charms for poison teams
Besides the strong power, a poison team will require runes and charms to get over the top 100 on the leaderboard. Delayed Protection in the frontline, Poison Touch, Venom Master, and Pangolin Scale are some of the runes preferred by top players.

Dynamic and competitive business model
Based on our gaming specialists’ and top players’ feedback the average time spent for a decent ranking position rounds around 4-6 hours per day. This is another interesting fact about Origin, high prizes seem to be raising the competitiveness among the community which brings back the fun and willingness to invest many hours playing.
Origin's business model is more dynamic, and competitive. Those who are willing to apply for better teams will enjoy greater opportunities than they had in the classic version. Many of the old axies used in the classic version don't work well with the new game without runes and charms, which brings a question for those who own these idle axies: Why not exchange multiple basic teams for 1 better Origin team? It will increase the chance of getting the right player to play and climb the leaderboards without costing more.
While there is a constraint of demand for basic teams, there is a lack of supply for those who play better and are qualified to climb the leaderboards but let's leave this topic to be further explored in a future newsletter.
